Great credit to those responsible for including in the survey a sample of 206 non-cat owners. Almost 70 per cent of them said their main complaint was that the neighbour’s cat uses their garden to go to the toilet. The survey found that less than 15 per cent of cat owners had taken the trouble to provide an outdoor latrine for their pet.
That’s a very low proportion. The report stops short of describing it as anti-social, but having been for many years on the receiving end – including at a time when my kids were tiny and playing in the garden - I have no hesitation in doing so.
I hope the campaign can have some impact on the percentage of responsible owners. Perhaps a repeat survey in a couple of years will be able to make such a claim.
