This could be the start of something sensible (updated)

Parking on pavementIn Scotland, proposals for a law banning parking on pavements.

Future generations will wonder why it took us so long.

Footnote: I just came across this recent letter to a Canadian newspaper which notes un-neighbourly complaints concerning residents who park their cars facing in the wrong direction. It seems that by having a bye-law which accommodates such complaints,some residents are using an intermediary (the city council) to get at their neighbours.
