The English Historic Towns Forum has a conference coming up on 'Transportation and the historic public realm,' 19-21 October 2005 in Oxford.
Although it's pricey, I note an interesting third morning on design and the public realm, with the following line-up:
'Seamless integration' - David Samuel, Associate, David Lock Associates
'The public realm: designing for people' - Brian Evans, Gillespies
'The role and use of masterplanning' - Chris Miele, RPS Planning, Transport & Environment
'Wayfinding and legibility with local identity' - Sue Manley, Placemarque
'Shared space: new hope for reconciling people, places and transport' - Ben Hamilton-Baillie, Hamilton-Baillie Associates Ltd.
